BRAIN HEALTH
For eons it was said that the brain doesn't grow new cells. The scientific method hadn't figured out what we all hoped and some of us knew: the brain is constantly generating new cells from the nutrients in our food. So, no matter how old you are, there's still hope! If you start today, eliminating chemical-laden, processed food, you can give your brain the boost that it needs - by eating fresh, organic vegetables and fruits, with vegetable protein (beans, nuts, & seeds) and small amounts of animal protein (cold-water fish and chicken).
The chemicals in processed food will affect your brain. "Fast food" may result in a slow brain. Poor quality foods may result in poor moods and difficulty thinking.

Watch what you eat! If it sticks to the pan or the plate, it will likely stick to your artery walls. Corn syrup solids and hydrogenated fats are now thought to be primary culprits in blocking oxygen from getting into brain cells. These two manufactured products are in nearly all baked goods and processed foods.
Remember, think about what you eat. What you eat is what you will become! If you eat fat, you will become fat. If you eat healthy, you will become healthy. If you eat food with toxins, you will become toxic.....

Your brain may not luuuuv bacon as much as you do!

A recent study in the British Journal of Cancer links pancreatic cancer with the consumption of bacon, sausage and other processed meats.  The suspected culprit is nitrite in processed meats like bacon, ham and sausage. A daily breakfast with two strips of bacon increased the risk of pancreatic cancer by 19%. Four strips would increase the risk by 38%. Pancreatic cancer used to be rare and is one of the more aggressive cancers with a lower survival rate than other cancers. The risk is increased with smoking.

Red meat consumption is associated with a higher risk of pancreatic cancer in men, the risk increasing with larger servings. A review of 29 studies by the World Cancer Research Fund/American Insitute of Cancer Research, found that processed and red meats caused colon, rectal and colorectal cancers.

Health-minded folks (why is that not everyone?) might replace bacon and sausage with non-meat alternatives, but they should check first for those same troubling nitrites. A good replacement might be fish or grilled chicken.
